This was the plea sent out back on April 13, 2024.
Thank you for your continued support for the work accomplished in Zimbabwe! The bore holes drilled have been transformative for those who rely on them for growing crops. The project has also minimized the need for supplemental food supplied through benevolence from churches and brethren. When meeting with Warren Scholtz in February 2024, we were made aware of several other needs both in Zimbabwe and Botswana. Many of you have expressed interest in supporting continued efforts in Southern African countries and your love for the people there is truly amazing!
Please consider making donations to support the following three needs through donations to Lifestream Charities:
Truck replacement for Warren Scholtz as he uses this vehicle for traveling into Zimbabwe and Botswana three weeks out of each month. His dedication to encouraging, visiting, and preaching to Christians in those areas is incredible. Warren typically puts over 300k miles on his vehicles over a period of a few years and the terrain there is brutal. Warren is in need of $60,700 to purchase the vehicle he needs to continue this valuable work.
The wells in Zimbabwe have been a great success; however, the irrigation of the planted crops is done through hand watering of each individual plant during the growing season. This intensive labor does restrict the productivity of the crop where simple irrigation pipes that would transport the water to channels dug by the people would be of great help to further support their need for increased food production. The piping and valves for the nine present wells that would benefit from such irrigation could be accomplished for $27,500.
There are three villages in need of wells in Botswana to grow crops. The water table in Botswana is much more predictable and reliable; however, the depth to reach it is 3x the depths needed in Zimbabwe. These bore holes would be drilled using the same surveyors and riggers we used for the wells in Zimbabwe and the certainty of providing sufficient water supply is at much less risk than Zimbabwe. The depth needed makes them much more expensive. Each well would be at a cost of $39,000, so the total for the three wells would be $117,000.
We need at least $199,942 to complete these three projects as we have already received $5,258 in donations earmarked for these projects.
We have secured a commitment from a charitable foundation that has agreed to match all donations made dollar-for-dollar from today until June 10, 2024.
If we are able to raise $99,971 by June 10th then all three projects can be funded completely. This is an opportunity to double the impact of our contribution. Please consider a donation of any size as every single dollar will truly make a difference in accomplishing the goal.
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH ANYONE YOU MAY BELIEVE WOULD HAVE INTEREST IN SUPPORTING THE EFFORT AS WELL.
